Sunday the 20th S'n'B Reminder AND Tuesday the 22nd, Knit Happens reminder....

Sunday, March 20th:

Come join the folks of Champaign-Urbana’s Stitch n’ Bitch group for a warm afternoon of knit and crochet! We have plenty of chairs, so please come on in even if it looks full!
If you are participating in the upcoming community-focused collaborative art piece, feel free to bring your piece to work on during the meeting time! We’d love to see what you are going to put up!
Look for us in the private room off of the 2nd floor common area…

Just in-case you missed it and need to be reminded, here is the write up…

Title: Knitting the Community Together

Description:

Calling all fellow knitters and crocheters! Join Klose Knit, the Champaign-Urbana Stitch ‘n Bitch, and the Illinois Women’s Resources Center’s Knit Happens in this community-focused collaborative art piece.

We need your participation! Knit or crochet a 12in x 8in (w x h) block and come together to create a community masterpiece. Then join us starting at 6pm on Thursday, April 7, to tie the blocks to the Neil St. fence in Downtown Champaign (at the corner of Neil and Church). On Friday, April 8 at 6pm, we’ll be knitting and crocheting on-site and will continue adding blocks during the Boneyard Arts Festival.

More complete information will be posted on this site very soon!

Happy New Year!

Hello All!

I hope that your holiday was merry, and that this new year is dawning bright and exciting for you! Not a lot has been posted in the past several months, but that does not mean that nothing has been going on! Quite the contrary! Lots of FO's, WIP's and new faces have been showing up at the Sunday get-togethers. I just wanted to stop by here to let you know that we will be meeting with Rachel at the WRC (UIUC Women's Resource Center) to be coming up with the new times (and place?) for this semesters Knit Happens! meetings. Updates will be coming soon! Please stand by!

And, if you are a fellow CUS'n'Ber, and have an Etsy shop, pm me and I can put your shop up in our side bar!

Hello Hello Hello, is there anybody out there?

OKAY! After a LOOONG Hiatus, I am back! I am going to try to keep this page updated now that I am back on my feet and back into the thick of things!

This will be a short post, as I feel as though I have spent my entire evening on the computer, and I HAVE to get some knitting done before I go to bed! :-)

I can assure you, that there are some fun things in store for us this year, and we will post them as soon as we know more!!

Last Sunday was my second time back to S'n'B since this time last year, and Kathleen has done a WONDERFUL job steering the ship alone all of these months. I am elated to have such a wonderful, dependable partner in all of this! S'n'B would have withered and died had it not been for her! Thank you so much K!

I have so much I want to say, but I am THROUGH tonight, so I leave you with this....

Here are some new haps going on around town!!

Long time no post!

Had a lot of stuff going on, but I think we have worked out a way to try to keep the blog-space going. Here is a little update from last weeks meeting! Enjoy!

Submitted by Kathi:
For a while, it was just Jill and I. She was picking up the stitches on her Central Park hoodie to make the front band. She doesn't like picking up stitches - it's tedious and fiddly. Then along came Liz, who is recently from Texas (Nothern?) and she teaches History at Parkland. She isn't very old, but has been knitting since she was six, so she didn't even need to look at her work. She's making lacey socks with a lovely heathery brown malabrigo, (i think). I continued to rip and re knit the toe of the 2nd skeleton sock, but I re-did it again yesterday, and am about to finish! Tomorrow I will bring a baby blanket somebody told me to edge with crochet.

I got with Rachel at WRC and she pointed out my mistake about KH being next week, not this one. I was just trying to rush through the winter. We discussed the idea of advertising different themes for our KH, like crochet, cast on, cast offf, cables, etc, and having the first half hour for that subject; people who don't want to learn or teach should come at 6. She says 1st and 3rd Fridays are good for now, but in April we will need to switch to 2nd and 4th fridays for WRC scheduling reasons. That should be fine. I haven't heard back from the woman at Parkland who will be teaching knit and crochet, so I'll call her next week.

Tonite is Pecha Kucha 2 and my husband has offered to escort me, since nobody else seems interested, but I hope I see somebody there, even though I didn't hear anything about fiber arts in the lineup.

Brigitte sent an email about a KIP at Fleurish on a Sunday in late Feb. I'm gonna check that out. I had suggested occasional SNB field trips (like the library), but nobody really said anything. I would love us to support Brigitte's KIP. I'll ask around on the FB page and at the meeting.
