Sunday the 20th S'n'B Reminder AND Tuesday the 22nd, Knit Happens reminder....

Sunday, March 20th:

Come join the folks of Champaign-Urbana’s Stitch n’ Bitch group for a warm afternoon of knit and crochet! We have plenty of chairs, so please come on in even if it looks full!
If you are participating in the upcoming community-focused collaborative art piece, feel free to bring your piece to work on during the meeting time! We’d love to see what you are going to put up!
Look for us in the private room off of the 2nd floor common area…

Just in-case you missed it and need to be reminded, here is the write up…

Title: Knitting the Community Together

Description:

Calling all fellow knitters and crocheters! Join Klose Knit, the Champaign-Urbana Stitch ‘n Bitch, and the Illinois Women’s Resources Center’s Knit Happens in this community-focused collaborative art piece.

We need your participation! Knit or crochet a 12in x 8in (w x h) block and come together to create a community masterpiece. Then join us starting at 6pm on Thursday, April 7, to tie the blocks to the Neil St. fence in Downtown Champaign (at the corner of Neil and Church). On Friday, April 8 at 6pm, we’ll be knitting and crocheting on-site and will continue adding blocks during the Boneyard Arts Festival.

More complete information will be posted on this site very soon!

Tuesday, March 22nd:

Don’t forget! KNIT HAPPENS!
We will be meeting for “Knit Happens” this Tuesday, and we would love to have some seasoned knitters showing up to help get the BALL rolling. (pun TOTALLY intended)

UIUC Womens’ Resource Center
703 S. Wright St.
Corner of Wright and Green,
2nd Floor Freestar Bank
The door to the Women’s Resource center is located on the east side of the building, just take the elevator to the second floor.

We will be meeting 5:00pm-7:30pm.
Here are the dates for Knit Happens this semester:
  • March 22nd 5-7:30pm (host set-up around 4:45)
  • April 12th 5-7:30pm (host set-up around 4:45)
  • April 26th 5-7:30pm (host set-up around 4:45)
  • May 10th 5-7:30pm (host set-up around 4:45)
Now, we need hosts! As a host, you’re expected to stay the whole time and you’re expected to lead a short tutorial near the beginning of the gathering on a topic of your choice. (Examples include: “Casting On/Off,” “Choosing Yarn and Needles,” “Crochet,” “Knitting Graffiti,” “Increasing/Decreasing,” etc. Be creative! You can also bring along a helper to be your co-host! Please contact Rachel Storm about materials available to the host (getting copies made of your tutorial materials, etc.)
rstorm2@illinois.edu

Please sign up for your date and theme here:
http://signupgenius.com/go/hosting5

If you are interested in hosting, PLEASE DO THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! We still need 4 people to sign-up. First come, first served!

Since our community knitting event is going to be an actual part of the Boneyard Arts Festival (it will be on the actual MAP for the Boneyard event!), and now that I know the word of YARN is all-powerful, please feel LOTS of self-inflicted pressure to attend :-)
